2X Coach of the Year
Tony is the author of the book “An Unsung Coach” Tony articles have been featured on websites and newsprint media across the country in addition he has been interviewed or quoted in television ,radio and print media. Tony has traveled throughout the country and abroad to share his passion of sports and youths. He is very active in the community volunteering his time reading and speaking to school aged children, organizing toy drives for children of incarcerated parents, raising funds and awareness for the Lupus & Sickle Cell Foundations and serving on a number of boards and committees that focus on education and youth sports. In 2009 he was named by Unity First Magazine as a “Man who leads by example”. Tony got his start into coaching through organizing a co-ed youth basketball league in one of Boston’s toughest neighborhoods, the league served as a catalyst for positive change by bringing together young people and adults across territorial lines. Tony has also been named Great Northeast Athletic Conference Coach of the Year twice 2003 & 2010 as voted by his fellow coaches. In the fall of 2007 Tony was inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame of Worcester State College for his distinguished basketball career.
